Find yourself gasping after a length or two of freestyle or are you feeling below par in everyday life?
Breathing is an automatic process that we do not have to think about. True, but many people in modern society have developed poor/dysfunctional breathing patterns which we can live with but affect our performance in our daily lives.
Poor breathing can affect our physical and mental health, our focus, concentration, energy levels and definitely our sports performance. How we breathe on a daily basis at rest or during light physical movement determines how we breathe during physical exercise. If we have some level of dysfunctional breathing on land and at rest, then we cannot expect to breathe optimally when swimming, running, cycling, etc. We are likely to experience more fatigue, breathlessness, less endurance, poorer sleep, less energy, focus and concentration.
This is an introductory workshop for anyone who is looking to improve their swimming but finds themselves stuck at the breathless stage, or for more advanced swimmers who have not looked at breathwork before. We will alternate land based breathing theory and exercises with pool sessions, focusing on the front crawl stroke. Swimmers need to be able to swim at least 100m front crawl to take full advantage of this workshop.
Your coaches are Marianne Johnson, Oxygen Advantage Instructor and Swim Mastery Coach and Kath Lambert, pool and open water coach.
Tea, coffee and a simple buffet lunch will be provided.
